Turning New Year's Resolutions into SMART Goals

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

At the start of the year, it is common for us to set New Year’s Resolutions. However, as the year commences and we get busy with our lives, we often lose sight of these New Year Resolutions.

Research has proven that individuals who take the time to SET and WRITE DOWN their goals are more likely to achieve their goals.

To help you establish your health priorities for 2023, IPCIUM are encouraging you to turn your New Year’s Resolutions into SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time focused) to help maintain your commitment, motivation and attain your goals.

IPCIUM recommend placing your SMART goals in a visible area of your home / workspace and interacting with your SMART goals on a regular basis, as this has also been proven to enhance your achievement of desired outcomes.

Here’s an example of how to write a realistic and achievable SMART goal:

🎯 By the end of January 2023, I will increase my daily physical activity from 15 to 30 minutes each day and I will create a daily / weekly schedule and track my progress every time I undertake my daily physical activity goal.

What were your New Year’s Resolutions for 2023… are you still on track?

Setting SMART health & wellness goals, which focus on: physical activity, diet, sleep, work life balance, family time and personal development will help you maintain your motivation throughout the year, allowing you to set new SMART goals and most importantly, remind you of why you resolved to set yourself goals in the first place.
